Happy New Year Everyone

The beginning of a New Year can mean only one thing, It’s time for New Years Resolutions.

People tend to make New Years resolutions that will change their life, but me I like simple, fun and no where near serious.

I could do without the pressure of potential failure at the beginning of a sparkling new year, I want to keep it fresh for as long as I can.

I did the big change in my life 4 years ago, I lost weight and it defiantly wasn’t a New Years resolution more a Halloween resolution way back in October 2011.

Happy New Year

The Best Top 10 New Years Resolutions

The top ten resolution people make at the beginning of the year are to:

  • Lose Weight
  • Stop Smoking
  • Travel More
  • Eat Healthy
  • Get Fit
  • Give Up or Cut Down on Alcohol
  • Be Happier
  • Spend More Time with Family
  • Get Organized
  • Spend Less, Save More

These top ten resolutions are the same life changing resolutions people make every new year eve. They have been the top ten resolution for decades. It would seem everyone wants the same sort of things, but is it a good idea to choose life changing resolutions in the new year.

Are New Years Resolution a Good Idea

Here’s an interesting question is making a new years resolution a good idea? My hubby seems to think it’s not, he argues if you want something enough you’ll do it at any time of the year, so the concept of a new years resolution is pointless.

Me I think making a new years resolution is a bit of harmless fun, it gets you thinking about the coming year. Yes the vast majority of resolution made at the new year wont see it past January, but it’s all about wanting the coming year to be a good one, with a new you or for things to be better. I guess it’s hope in a way.

My hubby would argue if people can believe in themselves at the beginning of a New Year, why don’t they believe in themselves to change there life past the first three weeks or the rest of the year, someone needs to tell him I’m not a mind guru :)

Are New Years Resolutions a Good Idea

There was an interesting article I read that a psychologist wrote and she thought new years resolutions were not a good idea. Apparently the last thing people should be doing is piling more on their plate than they already have, she argued that instead people should be planning on doing less not more in there life.

Another article I read suggested that people make New Years resolutions that are too ambitious, complicated, unrealistic or demanding to succeed.

Fun New Years Resolutions

Now my resolution for 2015 is to dance everyday, It has nothing to do with fitness, I simply love dancing :)

I always choose fun new year resolutions, Dancing is something I enjoy but never seem to get around to, so I’m promising myself to dance everyday.

Even if it’s just a little shimmy in front of the mirror or a bum cheek shuffle in a chair. Nothing ambitious, complicated, unrealistic or demanding, no agenda at all. I’m going to dance simply for the fun of it.

Dancing

  • Can I dance? NO!
  • Do I care? NO! :)
  • Am I Planning On Getting Dance Lessons? Hell NO!

I’ve never been a serious soul and I have no intention of starting now. I like fun, so my new years resolution tend to centre around things that make me happy rather than the usual life changing new years resolutions that people tend to make at this time of the year.

  • Have you made a new years resolution this year?
  • What new years resolution did you make?
  • Have you ever seen a resolution through to the end of the year?
  • New Year Resolutions Success

I tend to make small promises to myself at the start of the year, something easy to achieve that will make me happy, doing more of the things that make me feel good and it has served me well over the years, I’ve succeeded at my new years resolutions many times over the years.

Nothing outlandish or unobtainable and defiantly not any thing that could bring a sense of impending doom, soul wrenching failure or negativity into my life. We all beat ourselves up enough in life without adding new ones every year.

If you want a new years resolution to be a success then small and manageable or slow and steady is the way to go.

Can New Years Resolution Change Your Life

Can a New Years Resolution change your life? I guess I kinda agree with my hubby, if something is important enough and you really want it then it doesn’t matter when you start. Whether you start through a New Years Resolution on January 1st or on a random cold dark day in November the only person who can change your life is you.

Like Yoda said “Do…. or do not, there is no try”

2015 will be my two left feet year, all I need to do is make sure my floors are kept clear….mmm maybe I should have also made cleaning up one of my new years resolutions LOL :)

Have a great year and I hope your new years resolutions come to fruition.
