I’m always looking for quick and easy recipes and a recipe doesn’t get easier than this delicious apple slice ensemble
I’ve been scrumping at a local wood. No, scrumping doesn’t mean dry humping for those of you who are laughing right now :) scrumping is an old English term we use here in merry old England to describe nicking or pinching apples from a orchard. Any way I’ve been scrumping apples all month and thought it was time I used some of them, when I came across this easy apple slice recipe on Facebook and couldn’t believe my luck.

Easier than Apple Pie
It’s one of the best apple recipes I’ve ever made, so much better and easier than apple pie. No fiddling about with pastry like you have with an apple pie recipe.
It uses only 5 ingredients that everyone should have at home or is easy to find at the supermarket, you mix them all together and voila a delicious apple pudding perfect for the family to share.
It tastes delicious hot or cold and lasts for around three days in an air tight tin or popped into the fridge, if of course it last that long, it didn’t in our house :)
Easy Apple Recipe
The original recipe calls for 1 cup of sugar but we’ve adopted a reduced sugar diet over the last 2ish years since my hubby and I have lost over 4 stone each in weight and we no longer like much sugar in our food, so I cut it down to 1/2 cup of sugar in this recipe. Next time I might try 1/4 of a cup of sugar since it was still plenty sweet enough with just 1/2 a cup. I also reduced the butter in my apple slice recipe from 125g to 100g, but again I might reduce it further to 75gs of butter. It’s all about experimenting when you change your life style to a healthier diet.
I know one thing I’m not missing out on eating this delicious apple slice recipe diet or no diet, so I’ll keep it at 1/2 cup of the sugar and 100g of butter if it doesn’t work with 1/4 cup of sugar and 75gs butter, since it defiantly works with the slightly reduced ratios. I’ll keep you posted and tell you how it worked out.
Apple Recipes With Cinnamon Is The Best Without A Doubt
When I made my apple slice recipe I popped in some cinnamon and it tasted divine, I also cooked mine for 10 minutes more than the 35-40 minutes that the recipe said to cook it for.
Easy Recipes For Kids
I would say this apple recipe is defiantly easy enough for kids to make either with mum or on there own and even reluctant dads and mums could give it a go. You just stick everything in a bowl, mix it together and ta..da one scrummy apple slice recipe done and dusted ready for the greedy hoards to eat and enjoy.
Alternative Apple Slice Recipe
The recipe is so versatile that you could add anything you like to your apple slice. next time I make it I’m thinking of adding sultanas, dessicated coconut and chopped walnuts or pecans into the mix, but it was delicious as it was to be fair, it doesn’t need anything else added.
Apple Slice Recipe
1 cup of self raising flour
1 cup of sugar (I used 1/2 a cup)
125g of butter (I used 100gs)
3 apples cored, peeled and diced
Cooking Time – 35-40 mins
Prepare a baking tin I used a low rimmed pirex lasagna dish and rub a little butter onto the bottom and line with grease proof paper
Put the prepared apple into a bowl along with the flour and sugar (if your adding cinnamon put it in now) and give it a mix
Melt the butter in a microwave or over a pot of boiling water until melted and beat in the egg
make a well in the middle of the apple mix and pour in the butter and egg, then mix it all together.
Put it into your baking tin and cook for 35-40 minutes or until a knife comes out clean from the centre of the apple slice
Good eaten hot or cold, great with custard, ice cream, chocolate sauce, cream or on it’s own and can be stored in an airtight tin for up to three days
